Project summary
Your own strategy taken end to end: designed, coded, back-tested, optimised, paper-traded, deployed and monitored, with full documentation.
- Problem
- Bringing research, code and evaluation together into one coherent project.
- Approach
- Research, build, back-test and paper-trade one strategy end to end, then document the decisions.
Skills developed
- Strategy design
- Deployment
- Documentation
Technology
- Python
- Cloud deployment
Prerequisites
- Completion of Modules 1–7 of the Algorithmic Trading with Python course
- The Strategy Backtester and Paper Trading System projects
- A cloud or local machine for deployment
Deliverable
A documented capstone repository and a live code walk-through.
Project workflow
Stage 1: Research
Write a hypothesis and the rules that express it.
Stage 2: Build and back-test
Code the strategy, back-test it with costs and record the assumptions.
Stage 3: Paper-trade
Run it in paper-trading mode and monitor the logs.
Stage 4: Deploy and monitor
Deploy the paper-trading system and build a monitoring view.
Stage 5: Present
Walk through the code, the decisions and the limitations.
AlphaSync practice
- AlphaSync practice — Strategy constructionExpress entry, exit and risk rules as an explicit, testable specification before writing any code.Status: Roadmap
- AlphaSync practice — Backtesting conceptsExplore how a rule set behaved on historical data, including costs, slippage, look-ahead bias and over-fitting.Status: Roadmap
- AlphaSync practice — Paper-trading practiceA simulated environment for placing practice orders against market data, so course concepts can be applied without real money.Status: Coming Soon
AlphaSync is a simulated practice environment for education. Simulated and paper-trading environments do not reproduce all the characteristics of live markets, such as execution, liquidity, costs and emotional pressure. Simulated results do not represent actual trading and do not predict future results. Screens show illustrative data.
